All Australian export meat packing plants, including
the plant that produces our Mt. Grambie brand lamb,
are regulated by the Australian federal government
through the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service
(AQIS).
AQIS is certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
and Secretaria de Agricultura, Ganaderia, Desarrollo
Rural, Pesca y Alimentacion (SAGARPA) to inspect and
regulate Australian-export meat for the United States
and North American market.
USDA, CFIA and SAGARPA ensure that AQIS carries out
inspection services via on-site Australian federal
government inspectors. These inspectors ensure Australian
plants maintain standards equivalent to United States,
Canadian and Mexican domestic meat plants.
In addition, USDA, CFIA and SAGARPA conduct regular
audits of Australian meat plants and individually
license plants that produce meat for the United States
and North American market.
